The Copernicus Masters is the global innovation competition at the forefront of Earth observation (EO) data utilization. It awards innovators fostering new solutions and concepts that showcase the benefits of the European Copernicus services to our everyday life.
Who is eligible to participate? All innovators – individuals of minimum 18 years of age, consortia or legal entities. Universities, start-ups, SMEs and bigger companies, research organisations and associates from all around the globe are invited to join. Check the eligibility criteria for each Challenge or Prize.
Why participating in the Copernicus Masters? If you have a brilliant idea on how to use Earth observation data to tackle global challenges, from pandemic outbreaks to climate change, from green energies to Big Data analytics, the Copernicus Masters is the right place for you to get support and further develop your solution. When can you apply? The registration and submission phase starts on 11 April 2022 until 11 July 2022. All submissions are evaluated between July and October, and the challenge finalists are named in October/November. Finally, the winners will be announced during the Space Awards in December 2022.

Designed to be accessible to everyone, the Orbiter app provides an up-to-date representation of Earth and its processes by visualising Copernicus EO data on a responsive globe. Out of the more than 4,300 innovative ideas that have been entered since 2011, the top 100 companies have created more than 2,800 jobs and generated EUR 153 million in total turnover in 2019. In recent years, these companies have also raised around EUR 274 million in venture capital.
